University Baptist Church exists to help people journey toward Jesus through quality worship, thoughtful and formative learning, engaging fellowship, and faithful service to our community and the rest of the world.
How do we sum that up? Simple.
Worship. Grow. Serve. If we are engaging in these practices, then we believe we’re on the road to abundance with God and others.
What Makes UBC Distinct
Jesus is our focus.
We want to be a community centered on Jesus, not just ideas about him. This means taking his life and his teachings seriously, and looking to him as the source of truth and new life. Jesus’ invitation is not to a belief system, but a radical way of love.
The Bible is our story.
We look to the scriptures as a living authority that (through God’s Spirit) speaks to us and guides us. The Bible is not a book of rules or literalistic hoops to jump through; the Bible is a story of hope, discovery, brokenness, wisdom, invitation, and love.
People are our passion.
We are unapologetically on the side of human beings. ALL human beings. We are a community that strives to come alongside one another, honor all walks of life, and be mindful of God’s love for the marginalized and oppressed.
Baltimore is our home.
God loves the world, and so do we. At the same time, we have a special desire to see the Kingdom on the move in Baltimore. We are committed to local justice, and seek to partner and serve in ways that transform and bless the city where God has placed us.
Who Can Participate?
Everyone! University Baptist Church has open doors to all people from all backgrounds. You don’t have to be a student, or a baptist, or even a Christian to be part of the UBC community. In fact, our leadership drafted the following statement to show just how serious we are about loving and including ALL of God’s people:

At University Baptist Church in Baltimore we believe that all humanity is created in God’s image and is of sacred worth.
Therefore, compelled by faith in Jesus Christ, the sign of God’s inclusive and boundless love for the world, we joyfully welcome and affirm individuals of any race, ethnicity, nationality, physical and mental ability, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and marital status to participate fully in all aspects of the life and ministry of our church.
With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we invite anyone who seeks God’s amazing grace to join our church family.
