Serving our city, blessing our neighbors, and seeking the Kingdom in the Baltimore area

Local Partner Organizations

Here you will find a list of local organizations and ministries with whom we partner as a church fellowship. Whether serving together as a LIFE Group, meeting needs at a special event, collecting needed supplies, or serving as mentors, UBC is seeking to be the presence of Christ in our city! UBC joins with many of these organizations in practical service as well as financial support.

The Agoge Project

https://www.theagogeproject.org/

The Agoge Project is a local organization housed in the Belair-Edison neighborhood focused on providing coaching, mentoring, academic support, and a culture of excellence for city youth. They “provide boxing, mixed martial arts, gardening, nutrition, and school tutoring in a positive and supportive environment.” UBC members have served as mentors for youth at The Agoge Project, provided art classes, and have collected school supplies for the org to distribute to local families at back-to-school time.

BUILD

https://www.buildonebaltimorenow.org/

BUILD (Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development) is an organization of over 35 congregations, non-profits, and other institutions fighting for solutions to some of the most deeply-entrenched justice issues in the city of Baltimore. They have addressed issues such as living wage laws, city school improvement, employment pathways, criminal justice reform, and more. One of their major issues, and a cause UBC has been engaging with, is the pervasive impact of vacant housing in the city. Through political organizing and volunteer training, UBC has joined with BUILD to dream about a better Baltimore in the years ahead.

Marian House

https://www.marianhouse.org/

“Marian House is a holistic, healing community for women and their children who are in need of housing and rehabilitative services” They provide transitional housing, permanent housing, and other services to women and children moving toward stability in their lives. UBC volunteers have enjoyed cooking dinner and fellowshipping with the women and laughing together over games of bingo. At Christmas time, we have supported some of the residents by purchasing items from holiday wish lists, and we continue to have groups serve for dinners and special events throughout the year.

Sister’s Circle

https://www.sisterscircle.org/

Sisters Circle works to help girls reach their full potential through a program matching middle and high school girls from several Baltimore City public schools with mentors. These mentoring relationships introduce them to a wide array of experiences and opportunities.  Many of these girls finish high school and go on to college or career training.  Some return to be mentors themselves offering younger students an up close example of what is possible. UBC has had several folks serve as long-term mentors, and we have taken up special collections to support this valuable work.

Woodberry Crossing

https://www.woodberrycrossing.org/

“Woodberry Crossing is a non-profit located in Northern Baltimore County that offers outdoor programs, education, and spiritual enrichment for children from Baltimore city. Throughout the year, kids and youth, many from high-needs areas, get to experience fun and care in the beautiful setting that Woodberry Crossing offers. UBC has served for special events such as the MLK Day of Service, or with LIFE Groups, as we have built structures for the livestock at Woodberry, helped arrange materials for camps, or just lent a hand at the upkeep or other needs around the grounds. It’s always a good time serving at Woodberry Crossing!

Interfaith Coalition for Black Lives
