Church Covenant

United in the faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, revealed in history, disclosed in the Scriptures, and experienced in human life, we do solemnly and joyfully affirm the following beliefs and make the following covenant one with the other:  We believe that by grace, God has made us a fellowship to embody and express the spirit of the Great Commandment which says: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength; and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:29-30) In doing this we shall model the life described in the words of the New Testament: “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”  As a member of such a fellowship, we intend to live under the following commitments: We will gather regularly with the Church to worship God, share the good news, and continually examine its implications for our lives. We will nurture our children in God’s Word. We will study the Bible, meditate, and pray so that we will more fully experience the presence of God. We will be sensitive to God's message as it comes to us collectively from persons, history, the arts, nature, current happenings in the world, and other sources.  We will be responsible to God through the creative use of all our income and possessions. We will give systematically to the financial support of our Church's ministry.  We will discover and affirm the gifts God has given each of us and use them in God's service.  We will evoke, affirm, and celebrate the gifts God has given to others. We will intentionally give ourselves as Christ's servant through participation in His mission in the world.  We will offer to know and love our sisters and brothers in this fellowship and we are willing to be known and loved by them. We will accept the responsibility to join another fellowship of believers should we relocate to another community.
