LIFE (Living in Faith Everyday) groups are sermon-based small groups that foster fellowship and spiritual growth. The week’s study will be distributed each Sunday, or your leader can send you a copy. If you miss a sermon, you can always listen online. Sign-ups will begin on September 9th, so prayerfully consider joining us this fall as we grow together!
UBC has an exciting future ahead, and you're invited to be part of the discussion! Join us on three upcoming Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. to provide input regarding our new master design plan. Each meeting will discuss different aspects of the project, so try to make it to all three!
As we approach the end of the summer, UBC is again offering a monthly Book Study that will invite participants to look for spiritual themes in selected texts.
At our next meeting, we’ll discuss William Kent Krueger’s book, Ordinary Grace. This meeting will be held on Thursday, August 30th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Tom and Susan Harrington’s house. Weather permitting, the group will meet and grill out in their backyard, and participants will be asked to bring a side-dish to share.
Limited copies of this book will be made available in the church office in the weeks prior to the August 30th meeting (at a cost of $5 per book).
This study is open to all ages. Also, if you have some friends who enjoy discussing literature, but don’t attend UBC, please consider inviting them to attend. All are welcome!
Please add your name to the sign-up sheet that will soon be placed outside of the sanctuary if you plan to be a part of the August 30th discussion of Ordinary Grace; or, let Tom (email@example.com) or Susan (firstname.lastname@example.org) know by email, so that they can make sure to have enough food for everyone!
Would you like to get away for a little while this winter? The college and youth ministries of UBC are planning a winter retreat for February 2-3. This trip is for college students, grad students, young adults, and youth (grades 7-12).
The Churches of Charles have scheduled 11 separate activities as a way to serve our community this MLK Day. We will be returning to some of our favorites places like Woodberry Crossing and Baltimore Station and doing some of our favorite things like knitting, cooking, carpentry and card making. We have also added a few new activities like cleaning up a basement for Gilead House, a residence for asylum seeking immigrants, cookie making and quilting. A detailed schedule of all the activities can be found on the Day of Service website. Please sign up for the one(s) you wish to attend so that we know how many to expect and have enough supplies, etc.
And speaking of supplies, we do need donations of prizes for BINGO, items for Gallons of Love, scrap booking paper and embellishments and yarn. Collection boxes are located under the coat rack at the Garden Entrance at UBC.
