Upcoming Sermon Series

This sermon series considers what God does through various aspects of the family, such as marriage, parenting, and healing brokenness. And, this series is designed to build up not only biological families but also our church family, since God’s plan is that the church should be a type of family where people can belong and be at home and embraced.

Mission: Possible Sermon Series

Please join us for this six-week series entitled, “Mission: Possible – How University Baptist Church Can Change the World.” Before Jesus ascended into heaven, he told his disciples to go into all the world and make disciples. How could this tiny ragtag group of believers have an impact on “all the world?” The book of Acts tells us how it was done. And, the early church serves as a model for the church today. If we will make their priorities our priorities, if we will proclaim the message as they proclaimed it, if we will follow their example of ministry, we too can make a difference in the world in which we live.

Earth Day Celebration!

UBC is working with the Churches of Charles to host a series of hands-on workshops to celebrate Earth Day. Activities will include making bat and/or butterfly houses, potting pollinator friendly plants, making seed bombs, and recycling t-shirts into shopping bags. We will also have the opportunity to work on two community gardens. The day will conclude with a dinner together at 5:30 PM. Please sign up for the various activities so that we know how much food and supplies to have. We will be collecting used heavy cotton t-shirts to repurpose as bags. Please drop your large or extra large shirts off under the coat rack near the Greenway entrance.

Generosity Sermon Series

This spring we will address the theme of generosity in the Bible. We will reflect upon God’s generosity to us, which calls us to be generous in kind. When we are given great blessings, it is a wonderful gift to be able to share them. On a communal level, we will discuss what is required of our church as we work to build God’s kingdom here on earth.

Baltimore Pacemakers at UBC!

Thanks to the impressive running habits of our own Rev. Mwase, UBC will be hosting a group of runners called “The Baltimore Pacemakers” on Saturday, March 23rd. This group runs all around Baltimore City, and they’ve chosen to start their run at our church! If you are a runner, you are welcome to run with the Pacemakers that day. The College & Beyond group will be serving some food for them after their run, and we need additional help when the runners arrive to make them feel welcome. Volunteers can show them where to find coffee, the rest rooms, etc. If you are an early riser, this is a great opportunity for you to serve: we need volunteers at 6:30 a.m.! If you can’t make it quite that early, we could use a second crew of volunteers at 7:30 a.m. Please contact Brian Welch if you’d like to help:

Serving at Marian House

Looking for a great way to celebrate Mardi Gras? Join us March 5th at Marian House as we cook, serve and eat a pancake dinner with the residents there. Marian House serves women who are transitioning into stable lifestyles by providing them with housing and supportive services. During our MLK, Jr. Day of Service, members from UBC went to serve a meal at the house. They had such a good time and were so impressed by what they saw that we are looking for other ways to be involved with this organization. This should be a great event!

New Sermon Series

This winter, we will study the concept of the soul in a four week sermon series. The soul is real, and it’s one of the most important things about you. In light of this, this series focuses on the nature and needs of the soul – and on how to develop a healthy, God-pleasing soul.

Advent Sermon Series

During this Advent season we will try to practice the spiritual discipline of waiting . Instead of being hurried and focused on ourselves and all of the important things that we have to do, we will endeavor to be reminded: “I’m not in control of the world, so I’m going to wait with Jesus, and I’m going to wait in peace.” In other words, this Advent season we will seek to wait on the Lord.

Christmas Caroling - December 7th

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear! Come and sing some of your favorite carols around the businesses and restaurants in Charles Village. We will meet at the Point to sing our first few songs and warm up. Music will be provided, and festive attire is encouraged!

New Sermon Series

This series focuses on some of the hard sayings of Jesus – that is, on some of the things he said that can be real “head-scratchers.” We can sometimes tend to push back against these hard sayings, but if we understand them and yield to them, we can more faithfully live the way in which Jesus has called us to live.

There will be two rounds of conferences, so if you can't stay for the whole time that’s okay. You do not need to sign up ahead of time, just come to the school at 1300 Gorsuch Avenue. Come meet the scholars, encourage them, and let them brag a little about their academic accomplishments!
