Children
In the Bible Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Our hope is that the children who come to UBC will experience Jesus’ love, learn scripture and its meaning to their lives, and discover their deep value in God’s eyes. We are committed to partnering with parents in nurturing the spiritual formation of children.

Nursery and Preschool

On Sundays, infants and crawlers are lovingly cared for in our Blue Room where they hear stories and songs about Jesus. Walkers through 2 year-olds stay in our Purple Room where they sing, hear stories about Jesus, and experience guided play.
Our 3-5 year-olds have a more structured preschool-type experience. From 9:30-11:00 they have music and experience guided play. From 11:00-12:00 they come to “big church” for the children’s sermon. Then they return to the Pink Room where they learn a Bible story and make a craft having to do with the story they learned.

Grade School

From 9:30-10:30 on Sunday mornings, we have Sunday School for children in 1st-5th grades. We use an arts-based curriculum Seasons of the Spirit. It follows the lectionary Bible readings, so the lesson the children learn in Sunday School directly connects with what they will hear in worship that day.

Worship

We encourage children to participate in worship, for without their presence, the family of God is incomplete. Each Sunday, we include a Children’s Sermon as a part of our 11:00 worship service. We also keep Kid’s Worship Bags in the back of the sanctuary. These bags include a children’s bulletin, which is filled with activities that connect with the Bible readings for each Sunday, Biblical coloring book pages, and crayons. Please download the file labeled "kidsworship" if you would like to read our brochure entitled Big Enough for Big Church. It provides tips for preparing children to have a positive experience in a worship service.
