University Baptist Church is an autonomous, congregationally-governed Baptist Church. Yet, we work closely with other churches to support missions and help financially through a variety of organizations. These organizations include the following:

The Baptist World Alliance

The BWA is a global community of Baptist believers that bring fellowship, justice, evangelism and aid to those in need. The organization promotes Christian fellowship and cooperation, and acts as an agency of reconciliation; seeking peace for all people. It upholds the claims of human rights- including full religious liberty.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) exists to enable the people of God to carry out the Great Commission under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, in a fellowship where every Christian exercises God’s gifts and calling. The mission of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is, “Serving Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission.”

Greater Homewood Interfaith Alliance

This agency's goal is to create a partnership between our area churches and the neighborhood. GHIA supports an adult literacy project. The churches also partner with neighborhood schools like Dallas Nicholas School in Baltimore City.

The Churches of Charles

The Churches of Charles is an ecumenical association of the following churches: University Baptist Church, St. Phillips and James Catholic Church, Second Presbyterian Church, First English Lutheran Church and the The Cathedral of the Incarnation (Episcopal). The Churches of Charles coordinate mission projects at the local level and also meet together for a joint Thanksgiving service.

Mission Partners

Baptist Family & Children's Services

This agency ministers to children and families by providing therapeutic foster care, respite and in-home support. Through the McCormick Together Ministries (the McCormick family are longtime members of UBC), families receive support services. The program is dedicated to providing education and resources to strengthen children and families. Through the chosen program, foster care is given for children at risk. Mother’s Day contributions are given each year. Several members of UBC are on the Board and Auxiliary Committee. Several times each year we help by collecting backpacks for school and helping with warehouse arrangement.

Billy Clark: Missionary to the Street Boys of Peru

UBC sponsors Billy Clark – a missionary who works with homeless children in Peru. Our letters and financial support make a difference in the lives of Peru's poorest children. This summer a UBC group of ten went to Peru for a week to help build and work with the children. They all want to go back.

Ryan and Cindy Clark: Missionary Teachers in the Phillipines

Our other "Clarks" are located in Baguio City in the Philipines. Ryan teaches pastoral care at the local seminary while Cindy teaches music. Check out their blog at: http://www.clarksgo.org.

Shepherd's Clinic

Clinic operated by volunteer doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who help meet the healthcare needs of the uninsured poor in Baltimore. Medications are usually free of charge and visits are very inexpensive and based on income (or lack of income). If needed, healthcare workers try to match a patient with a specialist who is willing to donate his/her services. Interested? Contact UBC for further details! The clinic is always in need of volunteers and medical supplies.

Heart's Place

Heart's Place Shelter is a winter shelter for men, women and children. UBC makes, delivers, and serves casseroles, as well as holding a "Have a Heart for Heart's Place" spare change collection. Open November through April on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. Located at 2640 St. Paul St. (410)235-9269. heartsplace@earthlink.net

My Sister's Circle

My Sister's Circle is a comprehensive relationship-based program designed to mentor girls from disadvantaged Baltimore neighborhoods during their challenging transition to middle school, throughout high school. At a recent get-together of the college students who were on break, they each told the group of their college life and career opportunities. They entered the program as fifth-grade girls amid challenging environments and now were poised young women. Would you like to learn more about My Sister's Circle? Would you like to become a mentor? Call Heather Harvison at (410) 458-3199. Visit their website, www.mysisterscircle.org or email mysisterscircle@verizon.net.

EndPoverty.org

Enterprise Development International partners with various Christian organizations. It promotes a long term approach to relieve poverty in the world. Its goal is to create self-sustaining micro-lending organizations for small business loans, and provides training and mentoring for recipients. The poor are empowered to create income and become motivated to work for a better life.

 Inner Harbor Ministry

This ministry serves the spiritual and physical needs of the residents who live around the Inner Harbor area. UBC makes sandwiches on the first Wednesday of each month, October through May, at 5 p.m. Hand-knit scarves and hats, as well as cookies, are provided at Christmastime. Volunteers are needed year-round, especially for the hungry and homeless ministries. Contact Elwood Ulmer at 410-229-8712 or cell phone, 443-915-9177.

Woodberry Crossing

This facility sits on 100 acres of woods, with farm animals to feed and pet, a swimming pool, camping area, garden plots, an activities farm, pottery studio, and a greenhouse. In the winter, the farm and its animal come to inner city schools and in the summer, inner city children come to the farm to learn and play. There is also literacy education and parenting program. Woodberry Crossing is always looking for board members and volunteers for summer camps. For more information, call Beth Bryant at 410—343-1511.
